Government Addresses LPG Supply Concerns

Amidst ongoing global energy concerns, the Petroleum Ministry on Thursday dismissed a report suggesting that India's LPG supply could take up to four years to recover. The ministry labeled the claim as "misleading" and asserted that it created an "incorrect impression about the country's supply position."

The ministry highlighted India's strategic diversification of LPG procurement, which now includes countries like the US, Norway, Canada, Algeria, and Russia. It confirmed that 800 TMT of assured import cargoes have already been secured and are currently en route, reinforcing the nation's supply stability.

Despite global volatility, the Indian government continues to provide subsidies under schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), which has benefited over 10 crore low-income families by helping to reduce their effective fuel costs.
