HCLTech Expands South Africa Operations with New Johannesburg HQ and AI Center

HCLTech has launched its new regional headquarters and an AI Center of Excellence in Sandton, Johannesburg, expanding its technology innovation and delivery capabilities in South Africa. The new facility will also serve as a training hub, developing local tech talent.

HCLTech, a global technology company, has significantly expanded its footprint in South Africa with the inauguration of a new regional headquarters and an AI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Johannesburg. The new facility, located in Sandton, is set to bolster HCLTech's technology innovation and delivery capabilities for enterprises across South Africa and the broader region.

New AI Center of Excellence to Drive Digital Transformation

The newly established AI Center of Excellence will provide clients with access to HCLTech's comprehensive portfolio of AI-led services and solutions. These offerings include AI-led Service Transformation, Industry AI Solutions, AI Foundry, AI Engineering, AI Factory, and AI Advisory. The center will focus on developing industry-specific use cases, aiming to accelerate enterprises' AI transformation journeys.

Commitment to Local Talent and Digital Skills Development

Beyond its commercial objectives, the new headquarters will function as a vital training hub dedicated to nurturing next-generation technology talent within South Africa. This initiative underscores HCLTech's commitment to strengthening the country's future digital workforce.

Sandeep Saxena, Chief Growth Officer, Growth Markets 2 for HCLTech, highlighted the company's long-standing presence in the region. "South Africa has been a strategic market for HCLTech for over 15 years, and we are proud to be a trusted partner to enterprises in the region. With our differentiated portfolio that includes full-stack AI solutions, we are deepening our commitment to South Africa with this new facility," Saxena stated.

HCLTech has actively invested in various skills development and digital literacy programs. Over the past five years, the company has supported nearly 500 students and learners through its annual skills development program, with approximately 50 participants subsequently joining HCLTech in full-time roles. Additionally, ICT and digital literacy programs have positively impacted more than 20,000 beneficiaries across South Africa, particularly in underserved communities, through partnerships with educational institutions and community organizations.

The expansion reaffirms HCLTech's dedication to its South African operations, enhancing its capacity to serve clients with advanced technological solutions while contributing to local economic and talent development.
