Shares of Goodluck India Ltd. displayed a significant drop of up to 67% on various trading applications today, causing widespread concern among its approximately 1.4 lakh investors. This sharp decline, however, is not a market crash but a technical adjustment following the company's recent 2:1 bonus share issuance.
Understanding the Bonus Issue and Price Adjustment
Goodluck India had announced a bonus issue, with August 21, 2026, set as the record date for determining eligible shareholders. Under this corporate action, investors receive two bonus equity shares for every one existing share held, both with a face value of Rs. 2.
The confusion arose because some trading platforms initially displayed the unadjusted closing price from Thursday (Rs 1,438.05) against Tuesday's opening price (Rs 494.95) after the stock division. This discrepancy made it appear as though the stock had plummeted by 65-67%.
“We wish to inform you that the bonus committee of the Goodluck India (resolution passed on August 17, 2026) has approved Friday, August 21, 2026, as the record date, for determining eligibility of the shareholders entitled for issuance and allotment of bonus equity shares of the Company,” the company stated in an exchange filing.
After the appropriate adjustments for the bonus issue, Goodluck India's shares actually saw a more modest decline of over 4.45% to Rs 473 on Tuesday. The company's total market capitalization now stands below the Rs 4,700 crore mark. The stock is currently trading nearly 15% below its adjusted 52-week high of Rs 557.03, recorded on July 17, 2026, but remains over 55% above its adjusted 52-week low of Rs 304.70 from March 23, 2026.

Analyst Outlook
SBI Securities maintains its estimates for FY27E, noting Goodluck India's progress with hydraulic tubes and artillery shell facilities. However, they've adjusted FY28E consolidated revenue, EBITDA, and PAT estimates downward due to deferred revenue from the Defence & Aerospace vertical, while still recommending a 'buy' with a target price of Rs 485.35 (adjusted).
Similarly, ICICI Direct also holds a 'buy' rating with an adjusted target price of Rs 533.35, believing the company is well-positioned for healthy earnings growth. This growth is anticipated to be driven by an increased share of value-added products and the ramp-up of its high-growth defense & aerospace segment, which offers superior margin potential.
