· · 2 min read

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched an official WhatsApp channel to provide members and pensioners direct updates on provident fund and pension services. Learn how to join and what information the channel offers.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced an official WhatsApp channel, enabling its members and pensioners to receive crucial updates and information directly on the popular messaging platform. This initiative, which went live on August 19, 2025, aims to streamline communication for subscribers regarding official news, scheme alerts, and significant announcements related to provident fund and pension services. By mid-September 2026, the channel had already garnered over 75,000 followers.

How to Join the EPFO WhatsApp Channel

EPFO members have several convenient ways to join the official WhatsApp channel:

  • Via Direct Link: Access the channel directly by opening the provided link on your mobile device and tapping the "Follow" button.
  • Via QR Code: Scan the QR code shared on EPFO's verified social media platforms using your phone's camera or WhatsApp's built-in scanner, then follow the channel.
  • Through WhatsApp Search: Open WhatsApp, navigate to the "Updates" tab, select "Channels" and then "Explore." Search for "EPFO" and follow the verified channel from the results.

What Members Can Expect

The newly launched WhatsApp channel primarily serves as a broadcast platform for important updates. However, EPFO's broader WhatsApp-based services extend beyond this, allowing members to:

  • Check their Provident Fund (PF) balance.
  • View their last five transactions.
  • Track the status of their claims.

These services are accessible by messaging EPFO's verified number. To ensure secure communication, members can opt to receive messages on the mobile number registered with their Universal Account Number (UAN), after the system verifies the number against UAN records.

What the Channel Will Not Do

EPFO has clarified that while the WhatsApp channel is excellent for pushing out important notices and general information, it is not designed for routine account access, balance checks, or withdrawal requests. These specific actions will continue to be managed through the established EPFO portal, the UMANG app, and regional helplines for grievance redressal.
