Delhi Metro Extends Hours, Boosts Security for Diljit Dosanjh's 'Aura India Tour' Concert

· · 2 min read

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will extend train services and enhance security on October 30, 2026, for Diljit Dosanjh's 'Aura India Tour 2026' concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Most metro lines will operate until midnight, with additional staff and security deployed.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced significant operational adjustments for October 30, 2026, to accommodate the large number of spectators expected at Diljit Dosanjh's 'Aura India Tour 2026' concert. The event, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, is projected to draw approximately 70,000 attendees, prompting the DMRC to extend services and bolster security measures.

Extended Operating Hours and Additional Trains

To facilitate smooth passenger movement before and after the concert, train services on nearly all Delhi Metro lines will be extended beyond their regular operating hours, running until midnight (00:00 hrs) on October 30. The only exceptions are the Airport Express Line and the Rapid Metro in Gurugram, which will maintain their standard schedules, with the Airport Express Line also operating until midnight.

In addition to extended hours, DMRC plans to operate numerous extra train trips across the network. Standby trains will also be readily available for deployment to manage any unforeseen surges in passenger traffic, ensuring efficient dispersal of concertgoers.

Furthermore, the validity period for QR tickets purchased through the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation mobile application (Delhi Metro Sarthi) will be extended by one hour, offering greater flexibility for passengers travelling to and from the event.

Enhanced Security and Passenger Facilitation

Special arrangements have been put in place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro Station, located on the Violet Line (Kashmere Gate - Raja Nahar Singh corridor), as it is the nearest station to the concert venue. Similar enhancements will be implemented at other key interchange stations across the network.

The DMRC will deploy additional staff, including customer service personnel and Customer Facilitation Agents (CFAs), to guide commuters and regulate passenger flow, minimizing congestion. Security protocols are also being significantly strengthened. Extra security personnel will be stationed at JLN Stadium Metro Station, complemented by Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs) and enhanced security screening procedures to ensure orderly movement while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards.

The DMRC strongly encourages all concert attendees to utilize metro services for a convenient, safe, and environmentally friendly travel experience, helping to reduce reliance on private vehicles and ease traffic congestion around the stadium.
