Ahead of the BRICS Summit in September 2026, the Delhi Traffic Police has announced significant traffic restrictions and diversions across the national capital from September 11 to 13. Commuters are strongly advised to check official updates, use public transport, and allow extra travel time due to anticipated disruptions.
Extensive Road Closures and Diversions
More than 35 key roads will experience regulated movement and restrictions during the three-day summit period. These measures are subject to change based on VIP movements and security requirements. The advisory specifically lists 22 diversion points designed to manage traffic flow around the affected zones.

Commuter Advice and Public Transport
The Delhi Traffic Police emphasizes the importance of planning journeys in advance. Commuters heading to airports, railway stations (New Delhi, Old Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin), and ISBTs should allocate considerable additional travel time. The Metro is highly recommended for airport travel as it will operate normally across all stations.
Buses may be diverted during VIP movements, and taxis along with autorickshaws will face parking restrictions and potential diversions. Non-destined commercial vehicles will be prohibited from entering Delhi during the summit. Roadside parking within 200 meters of controlled roads is strictly forbidden, with instructions to use designated parking areas only.
Emergency and medical vehicles will be given priority access, and essential supplies and utility operations will continue. The public is urged to cooperate with traffic personnel and adhere to all directions to ensure smooth movement and security during the international event.
