Commercial LPG Prices Cut; Domestic LPG, CNG, PNG Rates Stable on July 6 in Major Cities

· · 2 min read

Commercial LPG cylinder prices saw a significant reduction from July 1, 2026, while domestic LPG, CNG, and PNG rates remained unchanged across major Indian cities on July 6. This marks the first commercial LPG cut in 2026.

Fuel consumers in India are seeing mixed changes in prices as of July 6, 2026. While the cost of domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinders, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) holds steady, commercial 19 kg LPG cylinders have experienced a notable price reduction, effective July 1.

Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Reduced

Indian Oil has implemented the first reduction in commercial LPG cylinder prices for 2026, with cuts ranging from ₹173 to ₹183.50 across various cities. This move follows the restoration of commercial LPG supplies to pre-crisis levels, easing concerns that arose during the West Asia conflict.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that restrictions on commercial LPG supplies were lifted due to improved domestic production and an anticipated influx of imported LPG cargoes.

Broader Energy Market Context

The government confirmed that the full supply of domestic LPG, PNG, and CNG is being maintained nationwide, despite the West Asia conflict nearing its end. Commercial LPG consumption, however, saw a significant drop of 8% year-on-year during the first half of 2026, largely due to supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz caused by the conflict. Data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell indicates India's LPG consumption was approximately 14.74 million tonnes from January to June 2026, down from 15.95 million tonnes in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices were also cut by ₹5 per litre, bringing the Delhi rate to ₹110 per litre. This marks the first reduction in jet fuel prices since the crisis pushed them to record highs, offering relief to airlines operating both domestic and international routes.
