Bombay Burmah Shares Soar 9% After Block Deal, Market Cap Tops ₹10,000 Crore

Shares of The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd. (BBTCL) jumped 9.5% on Friday following a significant block deal. The surge pushed the Wadia Group flagship's market capitalization past ₹10,000 crore.

Shares of The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd. (BBTCL), a prominent entity within the Wadia Group, experienced a notable surge on Friday, rising 9.5% to ₹1531.60 on the BSE. This robust performance propelled the company's market capitalization to ₹10,371 crore, crossing the significant ₹10,000 crore mark.

Block Deal Fuels Share Price Rally

The upward movement in Bombay Burmah shares was primarily attributed to a substantial block deal reported by Bloomberg. In this transaction, 1.83 million shares of BBTCL changed hands, representing a 2.62% equity stake in the company. Such large-volume trades often indicate significant institutional interest or strategic shifts, which can influence investor sentiment and share prices.

Company Performance and Financial Overview

Despite today's gains, BBTCL shares are still trading 31% below their 52-week high of ₹2135, recorded on October 23, 2025. The stock had previously hit a 52-week low of ₹1301 on March 30, 2026.

For the quarter ended June 2026, The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation reported a consolidated net profit of ₹582.7 crore. This marks a 17.1% increase compared to ₹497.7 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year (FY25). Revenue from operations also saw a healthy rise of 7.8% year-on-year, reaching ₹5,088.7 crore from ₹4,711.9 crore in Q1FY25. This growth was largely driven by the company's food-bakery and dairy products segment, which contributed ₹5,003.5 crore to the revenue, a substantial increase from ₹4,626.0 crore a year ago.
