Bengaluru police announced they will investigate other daycare facilities after five women staffers were booked for allegedly abusing toddlers at a center within Capgemini's Brookefield campus. Videos depicting severe mistreatment prompted the action.

Bengaluru police have launched a broader investigation into daycare facilities across the city following a shocking incident of alleged toddler abuse at a center located within Capgemini's Brookefield campus. Five women staffers have been booked in connection with the case, which came to light after distressing videos of the abuse circulated widely.

Police Commissioner Vows Strict Action

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh confirmed that a case was immediately registered upon receiving a complaint from the Child Protection Officer. "Whatever has happened is a very serious issue, and we will take strict action," Singh stated. He added that police are currently reviewing the complaint and the submitted video evidence to verify the facts.

Allegations of Severe Mistreatment

The complaint details horrific acts of abuse against toddlers aged two to three years. Allegations include caregivers placing children inside a front-loading washing machine, forcing them to sit in a western-style toilet, spraying water into their mouths using a toilet jet spray, locking them inside bathrooms, and threatening them to keep quiet when they cried or caused disturbance.

Broader Investigation and Corporate Response

In response to the gravity of the incident, Commissioner Singh announced that the police would extend their investigation to other similar facilities. "We will also look into other similar facilities to check whether they are operating as per rules and regulations," he said, indicating that concerned departments would be asked to provide a list of all daycare units for verification of authorization and adherence to guidelines.

An FIR has been registered against the five women employees under relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. A Deputy Commissioner-rank lady officer and the Joint Commissioner (East) have been deputed to oversee the case, with authorities asserting that perpetrators will face accountability.

Capgemini has reportedly shut down the facility following the incident, emphasizing employee welfare as its 'foremost priority'.
