Tensions in the Middle East have sharply escalated following a direct US military strike on Iranian targets near the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. The US action involved strikes on two Iranian rocket launchers located on Larak Island, off Iran’s southern coast near Bandar Abbas. According to US Central Command (Centcom), Iranian forces were preparing to launch rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait, posing a direct threat to international shipping.
