GREATER NOIDA, India — Police in Greater Noida have arrested a driver following a hit-and-run incident where a speeding car struck four students near GNIOT College in the Knowledge Park area. The incident occurred on Friday, September 18, 2026, leaving one person gravely injured and three others with minor injuries.

The crash, which was captured on video and subsequently went viral on social media, shows a car suddenly veering off the road and hitting several individuals standing near the roadside. The impact sent some victims flying into the air, highlighting the severity of the collision.

Driver Identified and Apprehended

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ravi Shankar Nim, the Knowledge Park police station received information about a man being struck by a car on September 18. Officers promptly responded to the scene and initiated legal proceedings. The driver, identified as Manish, allegedly fled immediately after the collision but was later traced and taken into custody, along with his vehicle.

"On September 18, 2026, the Knowledge Park police station received information that a man had been struck by a car. Immediately upon receiving this information, the police arrived at the scene and initiated legal proceedings. The police have taken both the vehicle and its driver into custody," DCP Nim stated.

Investigation Points to Negligent Driving

Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident was caused by the driver losing control of the vehicle. DCP Nim indicated that the crash falls under the category of speeding and negligent driving. "Further action in the matter is underway... Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred due to a loss of control over the vehicle, falling under the category of speeding and negligent driving," he added.

The injured victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. While one person sustained serious injuries, three others received first aid and were subsequently discharged. The incident has sparked concerns among local residents and students regarding road safety and reckless driving in areas frequented by educational institutions.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the appropriate charges to be filed in the case. The viral video has drawn significant public attention to the issue of road safety in the region.
