Norton Motorcycles Expands to India, US Markets; Unveils New 450 Urban Model

· · 2 min read

TVS-owned Norton Motorcycles is set to enter the Indian and US markets, backed by over £200 million in investment. The British marque also premiered its new 450 Urban motorcycle at EICMA 2026, signaling entry into a new segment.

TVS Motor-owned British motorcycle manufacturer Norton Motorcycles is preparing for a significant global expansion, targeting entry into the Indian and US markets in the coming months. This move follows a substantial investment exceeding £200 million aimed at reviving the historic British marque.

Norton, which first outlined its new-generation product strategy at EICMA 2025, has already established operations in 10 markets with a network of over 50 retail outlets. The company's long-term goal is to expand this network to more than 200 locations globally, aiming for annual sales of approximately 20,000 motorcycles worldwide.

New 450 Urban Motorcycle Debuts

At EICMA 2026 in Milan, Norton marked the first anniversary of its resurgence strategy with the world premiere of the new Norton 450 Urban. This model signifies the brand's entry into a new, more accessible urban motorcycle segment. The 450 Urban will be available in two versions, powered by a 454cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 47 PS and 45 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Technologically advanced, the new motorcycle features an aluminum frame, cornering ABS, traction control, cruise control, and an 8-inch TFT touchscreen. Its introduction extends Norton's portfolio, bringing its distinctive design, engineering, and technology to a broader range of riders, including those new to the brand.

Investment and Production Milestones

The entry into India is a strategic development for TVS Motor, which acquired Norton in 2020. The significant investment has facilitated the development of Norton's Solihull headquarters and manufacturing facility, increased its workforce by 25%, and established an international retail and service network.

Norton's new-generation motorcycles are now transitioning from product launches to commercial deliveries. The Manx R and Atlas models have entered production, with customer deliveries already underway across Europe. The Manx and Atlas GT are expected to follow, positioning these four models across the sports, naked, and middleweight adventure-touring categories.

Founded in 1898, Norton continues to be headquartered in Birmingham, UK, with manufacturing operations based in Solihull.
