This significant move, announced on September 28, 2026, comes with a substantial reward of up to $1 million for any information that leads to his apprehension.
Operation Hardball Targets Transnational Crime
Brar's inclusion on the prestigious list is a direct result of 'Operation Hardball,' a comprehensive, multi-year investigation into India-based organized crime groups operating across various countries. The FBI's Los Angeles Field Office, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, along with other international agencies, is leading the investigation.
According to the FBI, Brar is wanted in the United States on federal charges that include racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations (RICO) conspiracy, conspiracy to interfere and attempted interference with commerce by extortion, and conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances.
Alleged Leader of Lawrence Bishnoi Group
Goldy Brar is identified by the FBI as an alleged leader of the Lawrence Bishnoi Organised Crime Group in North America. This transnational criminal enterprise is accused of engaging in a wide array of violent activities across Southern California, other parts of the US, and Canada. These crimes include targeted killings, shootings, murders, kidnappings, extortion, assaults, and extensive drug and weapons trafficking.
The US Attorney’s Office previously announced three indictments against 37 defendants linked to three India-based transnational organized crime groups on July 7, 2026. One of these indictments specifically targeted the Bishnoi enterprise, with Brar allegedly serving a leadership role within the organization.
Bishnoi's Influence from Behind Bars
The FBI describes Lawrence Bishnoi, a 33-year-old from Punjab, India, as a gangster currently imprisoned in India. Despite his incarceration, Bishnoi allegedly uses smuggled phones and voice-over-internet devices from his jail cell to direct criminal operations worldwide. He is said to present himself as a deeply religious 'patriot' to recruit members and associates. The Canadian government designated the Bishnoi enterprise as a terrorist entity in September 2025.
Under Bishnoi's direction, trusted lieutenants like Brar allegedly controlled the group's operations, speaking on behalf of Bishnoi and directing members. Specific allegations include Bishnoi and Brar ordering the killing of a prominent political and religious leader, identified as 'H.S.N.', in Canada on June 18, 2023. The group is also accused of stealing over 520 kilograms of cocaine from rival drug trafficking organizations in the greater Los Angeles area between March 2024 and July 2025.
