Enhanced Polls Offer More Control and Privacy
The existing poll feature in WhatsApp group chats receives a substantial overhaul. Users can now set a specific deadline for polls, after which voting automatically concludes. This addition is particularly useful for time-sensitive decisions or event planning.
Furthermore, poll creators gain the option to hide who voted for which option, allowing group members to see only the aggregated results, thereby enhancing privacy. For added flexibility, poll questions can now be edited within 15 minutes of their creation, addressing common last-minute adjustments.
Introducing @all Mentions for Urgent Announcements
A new @all mention feature has been implemented, enabling users to notify every member of a group with a single command. When @all is used, every participant in the group receives a notification, ensuring wide dissemination of important updates.
WhatsApp highlights this feature's utility for urgent announcements such as school or office closures, event deadlines, or critical changes to plans. It's important to note that in groups with up to 32 members, only eligible users, typically group administrators, can utilize the @all function.
Seamless New Group Creation from Existing Chats
Creating new group chats is now more efficient. Instead of manually adding each participant, users can now initiate a new group chat by selecting members directly from an existing group with a single tap. This streamlines the process, making it quicker and less cumbersome.
