· · 3 min read

Vivo is set to unveil its X500 Pro Max and Pro smartphones on September 21 in China. These flagships will feature MediaTek's new Dimensity 9600 Pro chip, a 200MP main camera, and a large 7,000mAh battery.

Vivo is preparing to introduce its next generation of flagship smartphones, the Vivo X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max, at a launch event in China on September 21. Alongside the standard Vivo X500, these devices are confirmed to debut with MediaTek's advanced Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, promising significant performance and imaging upgrades.

Next-Gen Performance with Dimensity 9600 Pro

At the heart of the Vivo X500 Pro and Pro Max models will be the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, a cutting-edge octa-core processor. This chipset marks a milestone as MediaTek's first to be built on a 2nm process, boasting a peak clock speed of 4.55GHz. Its architecture includes two prime cores at 4.55GHz, three performance cores at 4.35GHz, and three efficiency cores at 3.10GHz, paired with a Mali G2 Ultra NX GPU for graphics.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro also supports LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5 storage, alongside an integrated 1090 NPU, indicating robust capabilities for AI tasks and overall system fluidity. The standard Vivo X500, however, is expected to utilize the Dimensity 9600M chipset.

Advanced Imaging and AI Capabilities

Vivo has teased impressive camera and artificial intelligence enhancements for the X500 Pro series. Both devices are slated to support 4K video recording at an impressive 120 frames per second with 10-bit Log, offering professional-grade video capture. A dedicated Imaging NPU 2.0 is integrated, designed to deliver ultra-fast autofocus performance up to 60fps.

Furthermore, Vivo is introducing a self-developed imaging chip within the series. This proprietary technology will enable advanced features such as 4K Dolby Vision portrait video recording. The phones will also incorporate Demura 2.0 and 2K 10-bit Log hardware support, promising exceptional display quality and color accuracy.

Vivo X500 Pro Max: Key Specifications

The top-tier Vivo X500 Pro Max is set to feature a substantial 6.85-inch display. For photography, it will reportedly include a 50-megapixel front camera and a powerful triple-rear camera configuration: a 50-megapixel primary sensor, another 50-megapixel sensor, and a groundbreaking 200-megapixel main camera. Internally, the device is expected to offer 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, powered by a massive 7,000mAh battery. The X500 Pro series will run on OriginOS 7, with the Pro Max model specifically listed with Android 16.

Availability and Competition

While the Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max are confirmed for a September 21 launch in China, Vivo has not yet announced international availability, including for the Indian market. Potential buyers outside China will need to await further official announcements. Notably, competitor Oppo is also scheduled to launch its Find X10 Pro Max, featuring the same MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, just one day later on September 22.
