MediaTek Debuts Dimensity 9600 Pro 2nm SoC; Oppo Find X10 Pro Max to Feature It

· · 3 min read

MediaTek has officially launched its Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship chip, built on a 2nm process for enhanced performance and AI. The Oppo Find X10 Pro Max is confirmed as one of the first smartphones to feature this advanced processor, launching initially in China.

MediaTek's 2nm Flagship: Dimensity 9600 Pro

MediaTek has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone processor, the Dimensity 9600 Pro. This advanced System-on-Chip (SoC) is fabricated using TSMC's cutting-edge 2nm process, emphasizing significant improvements in performance, power efficiency, and on-device artificial intelligence capabilities.

Advanced CPU and GPU Architecture

The Dimensity 9600 Pro incorporates MediaTek's innovative all-big-core CPU architecture. It features two powerful Arm C2-Ultra cores clocked at speeds up to 4.55GHz, complemented by six additional performance cores. MediaTek reports an impressive 17% increase in overall CPU performance and a substantial 61% boost in CPU multi-core energy efficiency compared to its predecessor.

For graphics, the chip utilizes the G2-Ultra NX GPU, which delivers approximately 27% higher performance under sustained heavy workloads. This GPU also brings enhanced ray tracing and neural graphics capabilities, promising a more immersive visual experience for users.

Enhanced AI and Connectivity

The Dimensity 9600 Pro is equipped with a dual-NPU architecture, comprising both a high-performance NPU and a Super Efficient NPU. The high-performance NPU reportedly offers 51% faster Large Language Model (LLM) prefill performance, while the Super Efficient NPU is designed to be 40% more power-efficient, optimizing AI tasks without draining battery life.

The chipset supports the latest memory and storage standards, including LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. It can drive displays up to WQHD+ resolution at a smooth 180Hz refresh rate and supports camera systems with resolutions up to 200 megapixels.

Oppo Find X10 Pro Max: First to Feature Dimensity 9600 Pro

Oppo's upcoming flagship smartphone, the Find X10 Pro Max, is confirmed to be among the first devices to integrate the new Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset. Its launch is set to occur initially in China, marking a significant debut for MediaTek's new silicon.

Expected Specifications and Laminar Flow Engine

While full specifications are yet to be officially confirmed by Oppo, reports suggest the Find X10 Pro Max will feature a 6.82-inch display, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. Its camera setup is anticipated to include a powerful triple-rear array of 200MP + 200MP + 50MP sensors, alongside a 50MP front camera. The device is also expected to house a substantial 10,000mAh battery and run on the Android 17 operating system.

The Oppo Find X10 Pro Max will also debut Oppo's new Laminar Flow Engine, a technology developed in collaboration with MediaTek. This engine is designed to intelligently balance system performance, responsiveness, and power consumption by coordinating rendering and system scheduling for smoother operation and improved battery longevity.

Although the Find X10 Pro Max has appeared in reports related to India's BIS certification process, an official India launch date or availability timeline remains unconfirmed by Oppo.
