Brahma AI Secures Major Funding Round
Brahma AI, the innovative enterprise generative AI platform backed by Prime Focus, has successfully closed a significant funding round, raising $150 million. This investment, led by Multiples Alternate Asset Management, propels the company's post-money valuation to an impressive $2 billion. Multiples committed $100 million through preferred shares, with additional investor interest signaling potential for an upsized round.
Following this transaction, Prime Focus will maintain approximately 66% economic ownership in Brahma AI through its UK-based visual effects subsidiary, DNEG. However, Prime Focus's voting rights will adjust to 24.99%, meaning Brahma AI will no longer be consolidated as a subsidiary.
Strategic Investment Fuels Growth and Expansion
The newly acquired capital is earmarked for several strategic initiatives. Prabhu Narasimhan, Founder and CEO of Brahma AI, stated that a primary focus for the funds will be intensive research and development, particularly in advancing interactive digital humans and broadening the company's overall AI capabilities.
Furthermore, Brahma AI plans to significantly scale its go-to-market operations, with a particular emphasis on expansion within the United States. The funding will also accelerate product development to meet the increasing enterprise demand for secure, branded, and AI-generated content solutions.
Pioneering Enterprise Audiovisual Content with AI
Brahma AI positions itself as an AI-native operating system designed for enterprise audiovisual content. It integrates sophisticated Hollywood-grade content technology with cutting-edge generative AI to empower large organizations. This powerful combination enables them to efficiently create, manage, and distribute video, audio, and immersive experiences at scale.
The platform features advanced products like ATMAN, a photoreal digital human engine, and VAANI, a multilingual voice and lip-sync localization tool. Brahma AI serves a diverse global clientele, including major anchor customers such as Warner Bros., the NBA, and Mayo Clinic, spanning media and entertainment, sports, healthcare, and advertising sectors. The company, which evolved from Prime Focus's CLEAR AI media asset management system, has previously received a Technology & Engineering Emmy Award for its pioneering AI-based media technology, notably for its work on the localization of the 'Ramayana' epic.
Future Outlook for Prime Focus and Brahma AI
For Prime Focus, this funding round strategically separates the high-growth AI platform's financial trajectory from its established visual effects and animation business. This arrangement allows the group to retain a substantial majority economic stake, positioning it favorably for potential future listings or additional fundraising endeavors.
