Anthropic, a leading artificial intelligence company, has announced localized pricing for its Claude AI plans in India, allowing users to pay directly in Indian rupees (INR). This strategic move, effective as of July 14, 2026, aims to make its advanced AI models more accessible and affordable for the Indian market, which is now the second-largest for Claude globally, trailing only the United States.
New India Pricing Structure for Claude AI
Previously, Indian subscribers to Claude's Pro plan were billed in US dollars, incurring additional costs due to currency conversion rates, an 18% Goods and Services Tax (GST), and various foreign transaction fees imposed by banks and credit card providers. With the new localized pricing, these extra charges are eliminated, providing a more transparent and cost-effective solution.
- Claude Pro Plan: Starts at ₹2,000 per month. This plan offers significantly higher usage limits—approximately five times that of the free plan—and provides access to advanced AI models including Sonnet 5, Opus, and the newly introduced Fable 5. Additional features include Research mode, unlimited Projects, memory functionalities, web search capabilities, and Claude Code.
- Claude Max Plan: Available from ₹11,999 per month. This premium offering provides expanded usage limits and advanced features such as Projects, Claude Code, Memory, web search, and Cowork.
- Claude Team Plan: Priced at ₹2,399 per user, per month. This plan is designed for collaborative environments, offering tailored solutions for teams.
All listed prices for the Claude AI plans in India are inclusive of GST and other local taxes, ensuring clarity for consumers and businesses.
Anthropic's Growing Presence in India
The introduction of INR pricing is the latest in a series of strategic initiatives by Anthropic to deepen its footprint in India. The company established its Bengaluru office in February, signaling a commitment to direct local operations. Furthermore, Anthropic has forged significant partnerships with prominent Indian IT services giants, Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), to facilitate the adoption of its AI technology across various enterprises.
To spearhead its expansion efforts, Anthropic also appointed Irina Ghose, a former Microsoft India Managing Director, to lead its operations in the country. These combined efforts underscore India's critical role in Anthropic's global strategy for scaling both its consumer and enterprise AI businesses.
