Alexa+ moves beyond fixed commands, capable of comprehending half-formed thoughts, colloquialisms, and nuanced queries. A key feature for the Indian market is its robust support for English, Hindi, and Hinglish, allowing seamless language switching within a single conversation. Amazon has indicated that support for additional Indian languages will be rolled out in the future.

The new Alexa+ offers extensive functionalities:
- Shopping: Recommends preferred brands, confirms orders, suggests alternatives, creates shopping lists, tracks Amazon deliveries, compares product features, summarizes reviews, and alerts to price drops. Soon, Amazon Now grocery ordering will also be integrated.
- Music & Entertainment: Works with popular services like Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Prime Video, and Netflix (subscriptions may apply).
- Smart Home Control: Manages compatible smart home devices from brands such as Atomberg, Qubo, Dreame, and Wipro.
- Personal Assistance: Helps with schedule management, meal planning, sending emails, and recommending gifts.
Personalization and Ambient AI
Alexa+ is built to learn user preferences, routines, and choices in music, books, and food. Utilizing voice and visual ID technology, it can recognize different household members and provide personalized responses. Amazon highlights an “ambient AI” approach, where Alexa can proactively offer reminders for tasks or flag potential schedule conflicts based on learned routines, aiming to integrate more seamlessly into daily life.
Availability and Pricing
Users in India can access Alexa+ through an Early Access program, which is currently free. Following the early access period, the service will remain free for Amazon Prime members. For Prime Lite, Prime Shopping Edition, and non-Prime users, access will be available via a ₹2,000 monthly standalone subscription or by opting into a Prime plan.
Amazon has also launched new devices optimized for Alexa+, including the Echo Show 8, Echo Show 11, Echo Dot Max, and Echo Studio, designed to leverage the full capabilities of the new voice assistant.
