· · 3 min read

Veteran actress Moon Moon Sen recently unveiled a striking new avatar in an intimate photoshoot held at her Ballygunge home. Collaborating with makeup artist Prasenjit Biswas, she explored looks never before associated with her, feeling like a different character with each transformation.

Kolkata, India – Veteran actress Moon Moon Sen recently captivated audiences by stepping into a strikingly new avatar for an exclusive photoshoot. Held in the intimate setting of her Ballygunge Circular Road home, specifically in her mother Suchitra Sen’s room and at her dressing table, the portraits captured a soft, unposed intimacy.

A Collaborative Transformation

Sen described the experience as a revelation, stating, “Each look felt like a different character.” Her collaboration with makeup artist Prasenjit Biswas came about through her daughter Raima, who encouraged her to participate. Sen recalled Raima's persistence: “Raima kept telling me he’s a fan and really wanted to work with me.”

Despite initial delays, Moon Moon Sen approached the shoot without preconceived notions, trusting Biswas's creative vision. She praised his professionalism and organization: “He was so organised and such a pleasure to work with! Every element, from styling to the poses, was guided by him. I had to put in no effort at all!” This hands-off approach allowed her to fully embrace the transformation.

Embracing Authenticity and Personal Style

Prasenjit Biswas's creative process intentionally moved away from traditional studio settings. By working within Moon Moon Sen's own home, he aimed for authentic frames that reflected her world. His goal was not to impose fashion but to respond to her inherent style and presence.

“My intention was never to impose fashion on her, because she already carries her own sense of style and presence,” Biswas explained. He exclusively utilized Sen’s personal wardrobe, allowing her existing clothes and environment to shape the looks and narrative of the shoot. This observational, collaborative approach emphasized presence over rigid styling, resulting in looks that felt natural and uniquely “her.”

From Power Dressing to Effortless Elegance

The photoshoot explored various facets of Moon Moon Sen's personality. One look featured an “effortless power dressing” ensemble: a crisp white shirt, a white tailored suit jacket, beige trousers, and a tan belt. Minimal jewellery, a sculpted updo, and classic, refined makeup with a bold red lip completed this sophisticated image. Another series captured “ease meets elegance” with a simple tee, a printed silk skirt, a black velvet jacket, and her own layered jewellery. Hair was kept soft and full, with natural makeup, warm blush, and a nude lip, emphasizing visible skin texture and realness.

Reflecting on Poila Boishakh

Beyond the photoshoot, Moon Moon Sen also shared insights into her quieter Poila Boishakh celebrations. She noted a shift from lively family gatherings to more intimate simplicity, reflecting on days when her “Maa was alive and the children were home,” with Riyaa now abroad and Raima in Mumbai. This year, her celebrations centered on home-cooked Bengali vegetarian meals with her house staff. Despite the fading of grand festive lunches, her core wish remains constant: “That my children and all of you stay healthy. Because health is of utmost importance.”
