Following Vedanta Ltd. trading ex-demerger earlier this month, eligible investors have begun receiving notifications regarding the credit of shares for the four newly separated entities. While many have received SMS and email updates, some investors may need a clear guide to confirm their new share allotments.
Who Is Eligible for New Vedanta Shares?
Investors who held or acquired Vedanta shares in their demat accounts on April 29, 2026, are eligible to receive shares in the company’s four demerged entities. Although May 1 was the official record date, Vedanta traded ex-demerger on April 30 due to the record date falling on a market holiday. This means that shareholders who purchased Vedanta shares on or after April 30, 2026, will not be entitled to the demerged entity shares.
Share Credit Timeline and Listing Expectations
The process of crediting shares to eligible shareholders commenced on May 8, 2026, and is slated for completion by May 11, 2026. While the shares are being credited, investors may not immediately see them listed on stock exchanges. The four demerged entities are anticipated to make their stock market debut soon, typically within one to two months following a spin-off. Based on current reports, Vedanta may approach exchanges for listing by next week, potentially leading to the entities' market debut in the second half of June 2026.
