Ultraviolette Secures $85M Funding for Global EV Expansion

· · 2 min read

Indian EV startup Ultraviolette has raised $85 million in a funding round led by Yali Capital and TDK Ventures. The capital will fuel production scaling for current and future products and support its planned 2027 entry into the US market, alongside Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ultraviolette announced a significant funding round today, securing $85 million. The investment was spearheaded by Deep Tech Fund Yali Capital and TDK Ventures, with additional participation from Lip-Bu Tan, Chairman of Walden International and an advisor to Ultraviolette, alongside existing long-term investors.

Accelerating Global Market Entry and Production

This fresh capital infusion is strategically timed as Ultraviolette prepares for an aggressive international expansion. The company aims to enter the United States market in 2027, followed by broader rollouts across key regions in Latin America and Southeast Asia.

The funding will be primarily deployed to scale production capabilities for its existing electric motorcycles, the F77 and X-47, as well as its upcoming products, Tesseract and Shockwave. This expansion is crucial to meet both domestic and burgeoning international demand. The investment will also support the ongoing development of Ultraviolette’s next-generation global EV platforms.

“This funding round represents an important step in Ultraviolette’s evolution into a global electric mobility company,” stated Ultraviolette founders Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan. “This investment will enable us to scale manufacturing, accelerate the development of our future product platforms and deepen our presence across international markets.”

Increased Manufacturing Capacity

The funding follows Ultraviolette’s earlier announcement regarding its new manufacturing facility, which is designed to significantly boost production capacity up to 500,000 units annually. This increase is vital for supporting the company's ambitious growth targets.

Industry leaders expressed confidence in Ultraviolette's trajectory. Ganapathy Subramaniam, Founding Managing Partner at Yali Capital, highlighted the critical role of electric two-wheelers in India’s transition to cleaner mobility, given the segment's scale.

Lip-Bu Tan, Chairman of Walden International, commended Ultraviolette’s strengths in deep engineering expertise, proprietary intellectual property, and its ability to tackle complex challenges. Ravi Jain, Investment Director at TDK Ventures, reiterated that differentiated technology and superior products are key drivers for accelerating electric two-wheeler adoption globally.
