Indian nationals aspiring to live and work in the United Kingdom have a critical, final opportunity this year. The UK government has announced the second and last ballot for its highly sought-after India Young Professionals Scheme visa, set to open on July 21, 2026.
This 48-hour entry window, closing on July 23, will determine who gets a chance to apply for one of the remaining 3,000 places available under the scheme for 2026. The official ballot link will be published on the UK government's dedicated India Young Professionals Scheme page.
Eligibility for the Young Professionals Scheme
The India Young Professionals Scheme allows eligible Indian citizens to reside, work, and study in the UK for up to two years. To enter the ballot, applicants must meet specific criteria:
- Be an Indian citizen.
- Meet all general eligibility requirements for the YPS visa.
- Intend to genuinely apply for the visa if selected.
- Hold an eligible qualification.
- Possess sufficient funds to support themselves in the UK.
Entering the ballot is free of charge, but applicants should only register if they are prepared to proceed with the full visa application, which involves a fee and other costs.
The Application Process and Key Dates
The ballot opens at 1:30 PM IST on July 21 and closes precisely at 1:30 PM IST on July 23. The selection process is entirely random, with successful entrants receiving an email invitation to apply within two weeks of the ballot closing. Once invited, applicants have 90 days to complete their online application, pay the visa fee of £340, and cover the Immigration Health Surcharge. They will also need to submit biometric information, including fingerprints and a photograph.
To enter the ballot, individuals must provide their name, date of birth, passport details (including a scan or photograph), phone number, and email address. Only one entry per person is permitted; duplicate entries will be disregarded.
What Happens If You Are Not Selected?
The ballot results are final and cannot be appealed. Unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to enter future ballots, provided they continue to meet the scheme's eligibility requirements. However, this July ballot marks the final opportunity for the 2026 allocation of places.
“Don't miss this final chance for 2026. The India Young Professionals Scheme offers a unique pathway for young Indian talent to gain international work experience in the UK.”
Those who are selected but decide not to proceed with the visa application are not required to inform UK authorities. This scheme represents a significant opportunity for young Indian professionals to broaden their horizons and gain valuable international experience.
