Symbiotec Pharmalab's upcoming IPO is poised to deliver a 260% return for its promoters in just eight months. Late investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's initial investment is projected to surge 45.6 times to Rs 361 crore.

The upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Symbiotec Pharmalab is generating significant buzz, with its promoters poised to achieve an impressive 260% return on their investment in just eight months. Furthermore, the stake held by the late esteemed investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is projected to multiply 45.6 times its original value, reaching approximately Rs 361 crore.

Promoters' Significant Gains

According to the company's Red Herring Prospectus (RHP), Symbiotec Pharmalab's promoters—including Anil Satwani, Kashish Satwani, Sushil Satwani, Prakash Sawlani, Satwani Holdings LLP, and Goldfin Capital LLP—were allotted 69,99,516 equity shares. These shares, with a face value of Rs 2 each, were acquired at Rs 276 per share on December 13, 2025, totaling an investment of Rs 193.18 crore.

At the upper end of the IPO price band, set at Rs 988 per share, these promoters are looking at a substantial gain of around 260% within an eight-month period from their initial allotment.

IPO Details and Offer-for-Sale

The Rs 1,757 crore IPO is scheduled to open for bidding from August 24 to August 26, 2026. It comprises a fresh issuance of shares worth Rs 150 crore and an Offer-for-Sale (OFS) component of up to Rs 1,607 crore.

Among the entities participating in the OFS, promoter group Satwani Holdings is divesting shares valued at Rs 144 crore. Based on its weighted average cost of acquisition (WACA) of Rs 49.43 per share, this sale represents a remarkable 1,900% profit. Other entities, India Business Excellence Fund-III and Rosewood Investments, also participating in the OFS, are set to realize profits of approximately 570% from their WACA of Rs 147.21 per share.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's Long-Term Investment

The late "Big Bull" Rakesh Jhunjhunwala made an initial investment of Rs 7.5 crore in Symbiotec Pharmalab in August 2007, acquiring 5,22,000 equity shares at Rs 143.68 apiece. He later increased his stake by investing an additional Rs 41.76 lakh in July 2009 through a rights issue, obtaining 2,08,800 shares at Rs 20 each. This brought his total investment to nearly Rs 7.92 crore for 7,30,800 shares.

Following a stock split in the first half of 2025, which adjusted his acquisition cost to Rs 21.67 per share, Jhunjhunwala's total holding is now valued at approximately Rs 361 crore at the IPO's upper price band. This represents an astonishing 45.6 times increase from his original investment, equating to a notional return of up to 4,460%.
