STL Stock Soars 5% on Record Q1 Earnings, CLSA Upgrades to Outperform

Sterlite Technologies shares hit a 5% upper circuit today after reporting stellar Q1 2026 earnings, including record revenue and profitability. Global brokerage CLSA upgraded the optical and digital technology firm to outperform.

Shares of Sterlite Technologies (STL) surged by 5% to an upper circuit limit of Rs 620.90 in early trading today, reaching a new high for the global technology provider. This strong market reaction follows the company's impressive financial results for the June 2026 quarter.

Stellar Q1 Performance Drives Stock Rally

STL, a leading optical and digital technology company, reported a robust set of earnings for Q1 FY27 (June 2026 quarter). The company announced its highest-ever revenue and profitability, which significantly surpassed analyst expectations. The market capitalization of the firm stood at Rs 30,310 crore.

Key financial highlights from the quarter include:

  • Revenue: Rs 1910 crore, marking a 33% sequential increase (QoQ) and a remarkable 87% year-over-year (YoY) growth. This figure was 20% above CLSA's estimates.
  • EBITDA: Rs 385 crore, a substantial 97% QoQ and 192% YoY increase. The EBITDA margin expanded to 20%, partly attributed to tariff resets in the US market. The company later reported a record EBITDA of Rs 397 crore.
  • PAT: Profit After Tax also reached a record Rs 197 crore.
  • Order Book: The order book expanded significantly by 155% QoQ to a record Rs 18,600 crore, signaling strong future growth prospects.

The company also confirmed achieving a 'net debt-free' balance sheet, further bolstering investor confidence.

Analyst Optimism and Future Outlook

Following the impressive earnings, global brokerage CLSA upgraded Sterlite Technologies' stock rating to 'outperform' with a revised price target of Rs 950. CLSA highlighted the strong revenue and EBITDA performance, noting that margins benefited from strategic tariff adjustments.

Ankit Agarwal, MD, STL, commented on the results, stating, "Q1 FY’27 has been the strongest quarter in STL’s history. Our highest-ever revenue and profitability reflect the strength of our AI-ready digital infrastructure portfolio and and the trust hyperscalers and telecom operators are placing in us." He added, "The rapid scale-up in our Data Center business shows how decisively we’ve aligned with the AI infrastructure buildout. With a record order book and customer trust, we expect to continue delivering innovative, reliable solutions that propel our customers’ growth."
