SkyHop Aviation is set to revolutionize regional connectivity in India, having successfully secured its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This crucial approval paves the way for the company to launch commercial seaplane operations across the country in the near future.
The inaugural phase of SkyHop's services will focus on enhancing accessibility within the Lakshadweep archipelago. The airline plans to establish vital links between five of its islands, as well as connecting them to the Indian mainland. These operations will utilize 19-seater aircraft, designed to navigate both water and air efficiently.
Boosting Regional Accessibility
SkyHop Aviation is positioning itself as India's first dedicated commercial seaplane operator, with a strategic vision to serve areas where traditional airport infrastructure is either limited or challenging to develop. The company aims to open up new travel routes, significantly reduce transit times, and generally improve regional access throughout India.
This milestone follows a series of successful test flights conducted earlier this month. These trials included water take-offs and landings performed at key locations such as the Ganga Barrage and Tehri Lake in Uttarakhand, demonstrating the operational readiness and safety of their seaplane fleet.
