Ranbir Kapoor Enters FMCG with Flux Theory, Launches Personality-Led Shower Gels

· · 4 min read

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has launched Flux Theory, a new FMCG brand offering five personality-led shower gels. Developed with Advay Jhunjhunwala and Think9, the brand aims to redefine the Indian bath and shower market.

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has made a significant foray into India's Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector as the founder of Flux Theory. This new shower and body-wash brand, developed in collaboration with Advay Jhunjhunwala and venture-building platform Think9, was officially launched in Mumbai.

Flux Theory enters the competitive shower category with an initial range of five distinct shower gels. These products uniquely combine varied fragrances with specific skin benefits, aiming to offer consumers a more personalized bathing experience.

Redefining the Shower Experience

Kapoor has been deeply involved in every stage of Flux Theory's development, from shaping the brand's core proposition and product experience to its creative direction and visual identity. The brand's philosophy centers on the idea that individuals embody different versions of themselves throughout the day, depending on their moods, moments, and specific needs.

The brand positions the daily shower not merely as a routine task but as a moment of personal transformation. Flux Theory's launch collection features five body washes, each named after a personality type: Sage, Sport, Lover, Dreamer, and Rebel. Each product integrates a specific personality with a unique fragrance profile and targeted skin benefit, such as hydration, deep cleansing, exfoliation, brightening, or moisturization. Fragrances range from mysterious bergamot and sporty mint to sensual santal, spicy leather, and earthy oud.

Targeting India's Growing Bath Market

Flux Theory is strategically entering India’s expanding bath and shower market. According to Euromonitor International, this market witnessed a 4% value growth in 2025, reaching retail sales of ₹35,370 crore. Despite this growth, Mintel’s 2024 research indicated that 65% of Indian consumers were not using body wash, highlighting a substantial untapped potential.

Flux Theory sees this as a prime opportunity to attract new, first-time body-wash users while simultaneously offering existing consumers compelling reasons to reconsider and engage with the category. The brand aims to move beyond the traditional function-first approach by integrating skin benefits, distinctive fragrances, and personality-driven concepts.

Ranbir Kapoor on His Vision

Ranbir Kapoor shared that his experience as an actor, portraying various characters, significantly influenced the brand’s central concept. “I have always been drawn to the idea that there is more than one side to each of us. As an actor, I experience that through the characters I play; in everyday life, we all move between different moods, roles and versions of ourselves,” Kapoor stated.

He further elaborated, “That was the thought behind Flux Theory. The shower is an everyday moment, but it can mark a shift in how you feel and what you are ready for next. That became the space in which we wanted to build Flux Theory.” Kapoor expressed excitement for Flux Theory to spark new conversations in an everyday category and become a staple in people's routines.

Co-founder's Perspective

Advay Jhunjhunwala, Co-founder of Flux Theory, noted that while the shower category has traditionally been driven by function and familiarity, consumers are increasingly seeking products that address specific skin needs and offer a more distinctive experience. “Flux Theory brings together function, fragrance and personality in a way that gives consumers a new reason to choose body wash,” Jhunjhunwala commented.

He articulated the company's ambition to expand the category, attract more first-time users, and encourage existing consumers to switch. Jhunjhunwala emphasized that a daily-use brand earns its place through product quality and repeat purchases, which Flux Theory is actively building towards.

Product Range and Availability

The inaugural Flux Theory collection includes: The Sage for deep cleansing, The Rebel for exfoliation, The Dreamer for hydration, The Sport for detan, and The Lover for glow. These products are currently available through the brand’s official website, as well as major e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Tira, Zepto, and Instamart.

The company plans to strategically expand its product portfolio and retail footprint, with the goal of establishing a scalable everyday consumer brand. Future expansion will encompass a broader range of shower and personal-care categories.
