Superstar Rajinikanth's latest action-thriller, "Jailer 2," continues its phenomenal run at the global box office, crossing the impressive mark of ₹750 crore worldwide within just 14 days of its theatrical release. The film has garnered an estimated ₹755.50 crore globally, solidifying its position as one of the year's biggest commercial successes.
Domestic and International Triumphs
The film's strong performance is attributed to both its domestic and international appeal. In India, "Jailer 2" has accumulated a net collection of ₹423.00 crore, with its gross earnings reaching ₹495 crore. Overseas markets have significantly contributed, adding an estimated ₹260.50 crore to the worldwide tally.
The opening day saw a robust collection of ₹59.70 crore net in India, which translated to a worldwide gross of ₹127.25 crore. The momentum carried through its first weekend, with the film's India net collection hitting ₹199.90 crore by Day 4.
Surpassing "Baahubali: The Beginning"
A significant milestone for "Jailer 2" is its surpassing of S.S. Rajamouli's 2015 blockbuster, "Baahubali: The Beginning," in lifetime domestic net collections. "Jailer 2" recorded ₹423 crore net in India over 15 days, outperforming "Baahubali: The Beginning"'s domestic net earnings of approximately ₹418 crore.
Furthermore, "Jailer 2" has established itself as the highest-grossing non-Malayalam film in Kerala box office history, breaking a long-standing record previously held by the "Baahubali" franchise.
Language-Wise Contributions
The film's domestic success is broadly distributed across various linguistic markets. Tamil collections lead the pack with ₹293.62 crore over 15 days, followed by Telugu at ₹80.31 crore, Hindi at ₹42.67 crore, and Kannada contributing ₹6.45 crore.
As "Jailer 2" enters its third week, industry analysts are keenly watching to see what further records the Rajinikanth-starrer will achieve.
