PNC Infratech Shares Plunge 20% After NHAI Extends Bidding Debarment

· · 2 min read

PNC Infratech Ltd. shares dropped 20% to a 52-week low Tuesday after the NHAI extended a three-year bidding debarment to the company. The decision, initially for Awadh Expressway, now prevents PNC Infratech from bidding on new highway projects.

Shares of PNC Infratech Ltd. experienced a sharp decline on Tuesday, tumbling 20 percent to reach a 52-week low of Rs 140.40. This significant drop follows an announcement from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) extending a debarment to the infrastructure firm.

NHAI Debarment Impacts Bidding Eligibility

In a regulatory filing, PNC Infratech disclosed that it received a letter from NHAI on September 11, 2026. This communication confirmed the extension of a three-year debarment, originally imposed on its concessionaire, Awadh Expressway Pvt Ltd, to PNC Infratech itself as the promoter.

The immediate consequence of this decision is that PNC Infratech will be barred from participating in any new bids floated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), NHAI, and their various executing agencies for a period of three years.

Company Evaluating Legal Options

PNC Infratech stated that it is actively evaluating all available legal remedies to address the matter. Despite the severe setback in bidding eligibility, the company emphasized that the debarment will not affect its status as a going concern or the execution, operation, and maintenance of its numerous ongoing projects.

The company also indicated that it would disclose any potential financial implications arising from this development as further clarity emerges. This latest action by NHAI follows an earlier disclosure by PNC Infratech on August 6, 2026, regarding the initial debarment of its concessionaire.
