PM Modi to Address BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to deliver a key address at the Leaders Session of the BRICS Business Advisory Forum today, September 11, 2026. The high-profile event is taking place at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit scheduled for September 12-13.
This year's forum focuses on critical themes including Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability. Discussions will span a range of vital issues such as agricultural security, international trade, investment opportunities, the digital economy, and the role of women in business. Over 1,000 foreign delegates are anticipated to attend the various meetings.
Global Corporations and Leaders Expected
The BRICS Business Forum is set to attract a significant presence from global corporate giants. Companies like Huawei, Alibaba Group, Rostec State Corp, Emirates, Etihad, Embraer, DP World, Lulu Group, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), and China COSCO Shipping are among those expected to send representatives.
Indian firms, including Zydus Lifesciences, Aditya Birla Group, Paytm, and Tata Chemicals, alongside JSX Investments (Pty) Ltd, are also listed as likely attendees. Dignitaries such as Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and S. Jaishankar, along with Maxim Reshetnikov, Russia’s Minister of Economic Development, are expected to address the opening sessions.
The Chinese delegation, notably the largest with around 400 members, includes prominent figures like Chen Gang (Vice President, COFCO Corporation), Yu Xubo (Chairman, China General Technology), Zhao Haiying (Chairperson, BRICS Women’s Business Alliance), CNPC Chairman Houliang Dai, ICBC Chairman Lin Liao, and China COSCO Shipping Corporation Chairman Min Wan.
Other key business leaders attending include Sharvil Patel (MD, Zydus Lifesciences), Jose Serrador (Global Vice President, Embraer), Aryaman Vikram Birla (Director, Aditya Birla Group), Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Founder & CEO, Paytm), Gustavo Pimenta (CEO, Vale), Phuthi Mahanyele-Dabengwa (CEO, Naspers Ltd), Oleg Belozerov (CEO, Russian Railways), and Alexander Vedyakhin (First Deputy Chairman, Sberbank).
BRICS-Plus Countries and Economic Impact
The BRICS-plus format, encompassing India, Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, highlights the expanding influence of this economic bloc. These nations collectively represent approximately 26% of global trade, underscoring the forum's significance for international commerce and partnerships.
