Ola Electric: Bhavish Aggarwal Pledges 4.32% Stake for Rights Issue

· · 2 min read

Ola Electric promoter Bhavish Aggarwal has pledged 4.32% of his stake to subscribe to the company's Rs 1,000 crore rights issue. This move ensures his participation alongside all other shareholders, with no shares being sold.

Bhavish Aggarwal, the promoter of Ola Electric Mobility Ltd, has pledged a 4.32% stake in the electric two-wheeler manufacturer. This significant move is intended to fund his subscription to a rights issue approved by the company's board, aiming to raise up to Rs 1,000 crore.

According to a filing with stock exchanges on October 5, 2026, Ola confirmed that the pledge is solely to finance Aggarwal's participation in the rights issue. The company explicitly stated that no shares are being sold, and the promoter will invest under the same terms as all other shareholders.

Ola Electric's Capital Raising Initiative

The announcement coincides with a crucial board meeting scheduled for October 5, 2026, where the company will finalize the terms of the rights issue. This includes determining the issue price, payment mechanisms, rights entitlement ratio, record date, and overall timing. Ola had initially informed about this meeting on September 28, subsequently forming a Rights Issue Committee to oversee the process.

Share Performance and Analyst Outlook

The development comes as Ola Electric shares have experienced a challenging period, declining by 30% over the past year. Despite this, the consensus 12-month target price from seven analysts stands at Rs 29.14. This figure implies a potential downside of 21.4% from the current trading level of Rs 37.08, highlighting investor caution surrounding the stock.

The rights issue is structured to offer partly paid-up equity shares with a face value of Rs 10 each, aiming to secure capital not exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. This fundraising effort is crucial for Ola Electric's continued expansion and operational needs in the competitive electric vehicle market.
