· · 2 min read

Christopher Nolan's epic film, 'The Odyssey,' has grossed nearly ₹168 crore in India in 13 days, showing strong weekday stability. Its continued success faces a major test with the highly anticipated release of Marvel's 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' which has already seen record-breaking advance bookings.

Christopher Nolan's mythological epic, 'The Odyssey,' is maintaining a powerful presence at the Indian box office, with its total gross collection nearing the significant ₹200 crore mark. The film's impressive run, however, is poised for its biggest challenge yet as Marvel's highly anticipated 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' prepares for release.

'The Odyssey' Maintains Strong Hold in India

Despite entering its second week, 'The Odyssey' demonstrated solid weekday stability, collecting an estimated ₹5.91 crore gross on Day 13 (Wednesday). This brings the film's total India gross collection to approximately ₹168.27 crore after 13 days in theaters. The figures, reported by Sacnilk, indicate only a 5.7% drop from Tuesday's collections, highlighting sustained audience interest.

Released on July 17, 'The Odyssey' opened to an outstanding response and has continued to dominate premium formats, particularly IMAX screens across India. The film has benefited significantly from Christopher Nolan's loyal fanbase, repeat viewership, and strong word-of-mouth, solidifying its position as one of the biggest Hollywood performers of the year.

Day 13 occupancy stood at 13.9% across 5,122 shows in 496 cities, with over 1.51 lakh tickets sold. Key markets like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai remained top contributors to the film's success. Globally, 'The Odyssey' has also excelled, crossing $680 million worldwide, with approximately $320.6 million from North America and $362.6 million from international markets.

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Poised for Impact

While 'The Odyssey' has enjoyed an exceptional two-week run in India, its box office momentum is expected to face its biggest test with the imminent release of Marvel's 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' The Tom Holland-led actioner has generated extraordinary pre-release buzz, signaling a potentially massive opening.

Advance bookings for 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' have been phenomenal, with around 4 lakh tickets sold across major multiplex chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis for its opening day. BookMyShow alone has recorded nearly 1.3 million advance ticket sales. The film has already raked in more than ₹45 crore in opening-day pre-sales and an estimated ₹85 crore gross for its extended opening weekend, making it one of the biggest Hollywood advance booking performers ever in India, according to Sacnilk.

Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey,' an adaptation of Homer's legendary epic, features an ensemble cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Bill Irwin, John Leguizamo, and Travis Scott. The film has received widespread acclaim for its grand scale, stunning visuals, and compelling storytelling.
