Hitesh Oberoi, the long-serving Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Info Edge (India) Ltd., is set to resign from his executive role effective December 2, 2026. Oberoi, who has been with the company for nearly 27 years and led it as MD and CEO for over 16 years, announced his decision to step back from full-time operations.
Following Oberoi's departure, Info Edge founder and Vice Chairman Sanjeev Bikhchandani will take on an expanded executive position. Bikhchandani is slated to become Executive Vice Chairman, Managing Director, and Group CEO, a move that awaits shareholder approval.
A Legacy of Growth and Innovation
In his resignation letter dated October 27, Oberoi described his decision as difficult, highlighting Info Edge's significant role in his life. He expressed immense gratitude and pride for what the team built together, recalling the early days of Naukri where he actively participated in sales calls.
Under Oberoi's leadership, Info Edge saw substantial growth across its portfolio. He noted Naukri's current focus on artificial intelligence and data strategy for future growth, 99acres' emergence as a market leader, Jeevansathi's profitability, and Shiksha's consistent market share gains. He also acknowledged the progress of Jobhai in developing its monetization model.
Future Plans and Continued Involvement
Oberoi clarified that his decision is not a complete departure from Info Edge. He will remain associated with the company as a non-executive, non-independent director, underscoring his emotional and financial investment. He stated his intention to devote more time to higher education, entrepreneurship, investing, philanthropy, and his family.
Expressing confidence in Info Edge's leadership team, Oberoi believes the company possesses the institutional strength necessary for its next phase of development. Info Edge is well-known for operating leading online platforms such as Naukri, 99acres, Jeevansathi, and Shiksha. The company is also recognized for its early strategic investments in Indian startups, including a significant stake in Zomato (formerly Eternal).
