Nita Ambani announced the establishment of a 410-acre Reliance Foundation university near Mumbai at the 2026 AGM. Approved by Maharashtra, the Dronagiri campus will feature seven world-class schools, a research park, and an innovation hub.

During Reliance Industries' 49th Annual General Meeting on June 19, 2026, Nita Ambani unveiled ambitious plans for a new 410-acre university near Mumbai. This significant initiative, spearheaded by the Reliance Foundation, aims to establish a world-class academic institution at Dronagiri, with an interim campus already operational at Ulwe.

The Maharashtra government has officially approved the institution as a state private university. It is designed to offer a comprehensive range of programs, including undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral studies, across diverse fields.

Seven World-Class Schools Announced

The upcoming university will house seven specialized schools, each focusing on critical areas of study:

  • School of Engineering and Computing
  • School of Management and Entrepreneurship
  • School of Law, Governance and Policy
  • School of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • School of Medical Science and Public Health
  • School of Architecture and Urban Planning
  • School of Education

Artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies are slated for integration into both the academic curriculum and research initiatives, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to education.

A Vision for Global Excellence and Innovation

Ambani articulated a vision for the university to join the ranks of the world's best, contributing to India's ambition of becoming a developed nation and a global knowledge power. The Dronagiri campus will be more than just an academic center; it will feature a dedicated research park, an innovation and incubation hub to support advanced research and the creation of new companies, including potential 'unicorns'.

Beyond academics, the campus will include a sports district, a medi-city, and an arts district with amphitheatres and performance halls, fostering a holistic environment. The institution aims to attract a global community of teachers, scientists, researchers, and students, encouraging independent thinking, innovation, and public service. This project is one of three major social infrastructure initiatives highlighted by Ambani at the AGM, underscoring Reliance Foundation's commitment as it enters its 16th year of service.
