NCDEX Appoints Veteran Banker Vikas Goel as New MD & CEO from August 1

Veteran banker Vikas Goel is set to assume the role of Managing Director and CEO of NCDEX on August 1, 2026. Goel, with over 30 years of experience, will lead the exchange as it expands into equity derivatives and launches new platforms.

Mumbai, India – The National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) has announced the appointment of veteran banker Vikas Goel as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2026. Goel will succeed Arun Raste, whose extended term concludes on July 31, 2026, ensuring a smooth leadership transition.

Vikas Goel's Extensive Banking Career

Vikas Goel brings over three decades of extensive experience across various facets of the financial sector, including treasury management, global markets, fixed income, and broader financial operations. His most recent role was as the MD & CEO of PNB Gilts Limited from February 2019 to December 2024, where he also served as Chairman of the Board for the Primary Dealers Association of India. During his leadership at PNB Gilts, he played a pivotal role in establishing it as the country's second-largest primary dealer in government securities.

Prior to his tenure at PNB Gilts, Goel held significant executive positions at several prominent international financial institutions. These include roles at First Abu Dhabi Bank, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, and American Express Bank Ltd., showcasing his diverse expertise in global financial markets.

Academic Background and Strategic Vision for NCDEX

Academically, Goel holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the esteemed Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, complementing his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi.

His appointment comes at a critical juncture for NCDEX, as the exchange embarks on a strategic expansion beyond its traditional strength in agricultural commodities. Under Goel’s leadership, NCDEX aims to venture into the equity and equity derivatives space. Furthermore, the exchange is actively broadening its product portfolio with the recent launch of a Mutual Fund Transaction Platform and has plans to introduce weather derivatives, signaling a robust push towards diversification and innovation in India's financial markets.
