Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to use petroleum products with restraint, linking the appeal to the ongoing West Asia crisis and the necessity of conserving foreign exchange. Speaking at an event in Hyderabad, the Prime Minister underscored that judicious use of imported fuel would mitigate the economic impact of global conflicts.
Fuel Conservation and Energy Initiatives
During his address, PM Modi highlighted India's progress in various energy sectors. He noted the country's rise among top nations in solar power generation and significant strides in ethanol blending with petrol. The government's focus has evolved from achieving 100% LPG coverage to promoting the economic supply of piped gas and expanding CNG-based systems. These efforts, he stated, are crucial for India to navigate the global energy crisis.
The Prime Minister's remarks come amidst persistent reports about potential fuel price revisions. However, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has dismissed claims of a post-election fuel price hike as "fake" and "misleading." Despite global crude oil prices averaging over $100 per barrel, retail petrol and diesel prices in India have remained stable, with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) reportedly absorbing fluctuations.
Telangana Development Projects Launched
At the same event, PM Modi virtually inaugurated development projects worth an estimated ₹9,400 crore in Telangana. These initiatives span critical infrastructure sectors, aiming to bolster the state's economic growth and connectivity.
- Road Infrastructure: Foundation stone laid for the four-laning of National Highway-167 from Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar, part of the Hyderabad-Panaji Economic Corridor.
- Industrial Development: Foundation stone laid for the Zaheerabad Industrial Area in Sangareddy district.
- Railways: Inauguration of sections of the Kazipet-Vijayawada rail multi-tracking project and the Kazipet Rail Under Rail Bypass.
- Logistics: Inauguration of the Greenfield POL Terminal in Hyderabad.
- Textile Sector: Inauguration of the PM MITRA Park at Warangal, also known as the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park.
Centre-State Cooperation for 'Viksit Bharat'
PM Modi reiterated the Centre's commitment to supporting Telangana's development goals, urging collaborative efforts between the state and central governments to achieve the vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047' (Developed India by 2047). Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who also spoke at the event, sought central assistance for various state development proposals, including metro rail expansion, the Future City project, and Musi river rejuvenation. Reddy outlined Telangana's ambition to become a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
Addressing the Chief Minister, Modi emphasized that while different political parties may govern, the development of states is integral to national progress. He assured continued central support, encouraging Telangana to join the national development journey with greater speed to realize its dreams.
