· · 2 min read

Several leading automakers, including Tata Motors, Kia India, MG Motor, BMW, and BYD, are set to increase vehicle prices by up to 3% starting July 1, 2026. Buyers have a narrow window to purchase before the hikes take effect.

Indian car buyers face impending price increases across a range of popular models, with several major manufacturers announcing hikes effective July 1, 2026. Consumers looking to purchase new vehicles from brands like Tata Motors, Kia India, MG Motor, BMW, and BYD have a limited window to finalize their deals before prices climb.

Automakers Announce Price Revisions

The price adjustments vary by manufacturer and model, with some increases reaching up to 3%. These revisions are attributed to various factors, including rising input costs and operational expenses.

  • Tata Motors: Both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) models from Tata are slated for a price increase of up to 1.5%. This affects popular cars such as the Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, Punch, and Nexon, including their EV variants like the Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV, as well as upcoming models like the Curvv and Curvv EV.
  • Kia India: The South Korean automaker will implement an approximate 2% price hike across its entire lineup. Affected models include the Sonet, Seltos, Carens, Syros, Carnival, EV6, and EV9.
  • MG Motor: The British-origin brand, owned by China's SAIC, will see prices rise by up to 3%. This impacts models such as the Comet EV, Windsor EV, Astor, Hector, Hector Plus, Gloster, Majestor, Cyberster, and M9.
  • BMW: The German luxury carmaker is set to increase prices by nearly 2% across all its BMW and MINI vehicles.
  • BYD Auto: Prices for BYD's electric vehicles, including the Atto 3, eMax 7, and Seal, will go up by almost 2%.
  • Mercedes-Benz: The premium automaker has confirmed a 1% to 2% price hike across its vehicle lineup from July, contributing to a total increase of around 4% for the year. This affects models like the C-Class, E-Class, GLC, GLE, and the EQ electric range.

No Immediate Hikes from Other Major Players

While many automakers are adjusting prices, some have indicated no further hikes for July, having already implemented changes earlier in the year:

  • Maruti Suzuki: Already raised prices by up to ₹30,000 in June 2026.
  • Hyundai: Increased car prices by up to ₹12,800 on June 1, 2026.
  • Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M): Updated various prices periodically throughout the first half of 2026, with no July hike announced.

For prospective car buyers, the coming days represent a critical period to make purchasing decisions and potentially avoid the upcoming price increases across a wide array of models and segments.
