LPG, CNG, PNG Prices Stable Across India on July 18; Non-Domestic LPG Supply Restored

· · 3 min read

Fuel prices for LPG, CNG, and PNG remain largely stable across India as of July 18, 2026. Domestic LPG rates haven't changed since June 7, while commercial LPG has been steady since June 1. The government has also restored non-domestic packed LPG cylinder supplies.

Consumers in India are currently experiencing stable fuel prices for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) as of July 18, 2026. This stability offers some relief amidst ongoing global energy market fluctuations.

Domestic and Commercial LPG Prices Remain Unchanged

Domestic LPG cylinder rates have held steady across the country since their last revision on June 7, when prices saw an increase of ₹29. Similarly, commercial LPG cylinder prices have not changed since June 1. This period of stability follows the government's recent decision to remove all restrictions on the supply of non-domestic packed LPG cylinders, restoring supplies to pre-West Asia crisis levels.

Global Factors and India's Energy Security

The broader global energy landscape continues to be influenced by the ongoing West Asia conflict, involving the US, Israel, and Iran. Recent reports indicate an intensification of hostilities, with US forces conducting strikes and Iranian forces reportedly attacking a Thai-flagged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. These developments have kept crude oil prices elevated, with Brent crude at $88.10 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude at $82.49 per barrel.

India is significantly impacted by these geopolitical tensions as it sources approximately 40% of its crude oil imports and 90% of its LPG imports from West Asian nations like Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The partial resumption of oil cargo movement through the Strait of Hormuz has led the government to adjust its energy subsidy policies. Consequently, the number of subsidised cylinders available under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has been reduced from nine to four, affecting millions of rural women beneficiaries.

Consumers are encouraged to monitor city-specific price updates and policy changes to manage their household fuel budgets effectively.
