· · 2 min read

Kotak Investment Banking has named veteran dealmakers V. Jayasankar and Sourav Mallik as co-chief executive officers, effective August 1. Ramesh Srinivasan, previously CEO, transitions to non-executive Vice Chairman, as the firm aims for further growth.

Kotak Investment Banking, a prominent Indian dealmaking firm, has announced a significant leadership restructuring, appointing V. Jayasankar and Sourav Mallik as co-chief executive officers. This strategic move, effective August 1, is set to steer the firm into its next phase of expansion.

New Co-CEOs to Drive Growth Strategy

V. Jayasankar and Sourav Mallik, both seasoned dealmakers, will jointly lead the investment banking operations. Their appointment as co-CEOs reflects a long-standing partnership and a shared commitment to the firm's clients, employees, and overarching growth strategy, according to a company statement.

Ramesh Srinivasan Named Non-Executive Vice Chairman

The leadership transition sees Ramesh Srinivasan, who previously served as CEO, stepping into the role of non-executive Vice Chairman for a three-year term, also effective August 1. Srinivasan has been integral to the Kotak Group for over three decades, playing a crucial role in establishing Kotak Investment Banking as a leading advisory franchise in India.

Strategic Timing Amidst Market Success

This Kotak Investment Banking leadership change comes at a pivotal time for the firm. In the first half of 2026, Kotak successfully reclaimed the top position in India's equity capital markets league tables. Furthermore, the firm is well-positioned to capitalize on what analysts predict will be a record-breaking year for Indian initial public offerings (IPOs), with several multi-billion dollar listings anticipated.

Uday Kotak, founder and chairman of the Kotak Group, expressed confidence in the new appointments. In a statement, the billionaire chairman remarked, "Jayasankar and Sourav are exceptionally well placed to lead the business."
