· · 2 min read

JioHotstar achieved a global streaming record with 72.5 million concurrent viewers during the T20 World Cup. Jio Studios' 'Dhurandhar' film duology also crossed ₹3,000 crore worldwide, marking a historic achievement.

At Reliance Industries' 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, Akash Ambani unveiled significant achievements for Jio Studios and JioHotstar, highlighting their growing dominance in India's entertainment landscape.

Jio Studios Dominates Box Office with 'Dhurandhar'

Jio Studios has emerged as India’s leading content studio, celebrated for its revenue, extensive catalogue, and substantial box-office share. A standout success, the 'Dhurandhar' film franchise, has collectively earned over ₹3,000 crore in worldwide collections.

Both films within the 'Dhurandhar' duology individually surpassed the ₹1,000-crore mark globally, making it the first Indian film franchise of its kind to achieve this monumental milestone. Akash Ambani noted that Jio Studios has also maintained its position as the highest-grossing Hindi film studio for three consecutive years.

JioHotstar Sets Global Streaming Benchmark

JioHotstar set a new global streaming record during India’s victorious T20 World Cup campaign, recording an unprecedented 72.5 million concurrent viewers. This achievement underscores JioHotstar's significant impact on digital entertainment, with the platform now holding nine of the ten highest global concurrency records.

During the financial year, JioHotstar reached over 700 million viewers for the IPL 2026 season and averaged 451 million monthly active users. It also became the first Indian paid OTT service to surpass one billion downloads, driven by major cricket tournaments, popular films, television shows, and diverse regional-language programming.

JioStar Maintains Television Leadership

Beyond digital streaming, JioStar continues to be India’s largest television entertainment network, commanding a substantial 34.7% viewership share. This figure, as stated by Ambani, is nearly equivalent to the combined share of the next three television networks.

Approximately 389 million people engage with JioStar content daily across various genres and languages. This broad reach reflects Reliance’s comprehensive entertainment strategy, integrating its television, sports, and streaming operations under the JioStar umbrella.
