The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced an opportunity for 410 apprentice positions at its U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) in Bengaluru. The online application window for these one-year training programs for the 2026-27 training year is open from July 29 to August 28, 2026.
Apprenticeship Details and Vacancy Breakdown
These apprentice posts fall under the Apprentices Act, 1961, covering graduate, technician, and commercial practice streams. The total of 410 vacancies is distributed as follows:
- Graduate Apprentices (B.E./B.Tech.): 220 posts
- Technician Apprentices (Diploma): 120 posts
- Commercial Practice Apprentices (Diploma): 70 posts
Among the graduate apprentice roles, the highest demand is for Electronics and Communication Engineering (83 posts), followed by Mechanical Engineering (50 posts), and Computer Science Engineering (40 posts). Other engineering disciplines such as Chemical, Industrial Engineering and Management, Automobile, Aeronautical, and Aerospace Engineering also have openings.
For diploma holders, vacancies are available in Computer Science, Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation Technology, and Automobile Engineering. Additionally, 70 positions are open for Diploma holders in Commercial Practice.
Eligibility, Selection, and Stipend
Prospective candidates must possess the prescribed engineering degree or diploma from a recognized university, technical board, or institution. The selection process will primarily be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Shortlisted candidates will then proceed to document verification.
Successful graduate apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 12,300, while technician and commercial practice apprentices will be paid Rs 10,900 per month. The training period for all selected candidates is 12 months, commencing from the execution of the apprenticeship contract.
It is important to note that completion of this apprenticeship program does not guarantee regular employment with URSC, ISRO, or any other unit within the Department of Space. URSC, located in Bengaluru, is a premier ISRO center dedicated to the conceptualization, design, development, testing, and in-orbit management of spacecraft.
