· · 3 min read

Invesco Mutual Fund has launched its new India Pharma and Healthcare Fund, an open-ended equity scheme investing across the broad healthcare ecosystem. The New Fund Offer (NFO) is open for subscription until September 1, 2026, with a minimum investment of Rs 1,000.

Invesco Mutual Fund has introduced the Invesco India Pharma and Healthcare Fund, an open-ended equity scheme designed to invest in companies spanning the pharmaceutical, healthcare, and allied industries. The New Fund Offer (NFO) commenced on August 18, 2026, and will remain open for subscriptions until September 1, 2026.

About the Invesco Pharma Healthcare Fund

Unlike funds solely focused on pharmaceutical manufacturers, this new scheme aims for a broader investment approach. It will allocate capital across various segments of the healthcare ecosystem, including hospitals, diagnostic companies, contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), contract research organizations (CROs), and medical device manufacturers. The fund may also consider investments in healthcare service providers and even insurance companies linked to the healthcare sector.

Invesco Mutual Fund highlights the significant long-term growth potential within India's healthcare sector. Key drivers include increasing healthcare expenditure, expanded insurance coverage, an aging population, the rise of lifestyle-related diseases, and continuous expansion of healthcare infrastructure. India's prominence as a pharmaceutical manufacturing and outsourcing hub, coupled with innovation in life sciences, further supports this investment outlook.

Investment Strategy and Benchmarking

The fund's strategy involves identifying businesses with sustainable competitive advantages and clear long-term growth prospects across the entire healthcare value chain. This flexible approach allows the scheme to invest in established pharmaceutical giants as well as emerging segments like diagnostics and medical devices, avoiding concentration within a single industry sub-sector.

The Invesco India Pharma and Healthcare Fund will be benchmarked against the BSE Healthcare Total Return Index (TRI). Aditya Khemani, Head of Equity and Fund Manager at Invesco Mutual Fund, will manage the scheme.

Minimum Investment and Exit Load Details

Investors can subscribe to the NFO with a minimum initial investment of Rs 1,000, with additional investments possible in multiples of Rs 1. For Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), the minimum investment is Rs 100, also in multiples of Rs 1.

An exit load of 0.50% will be applied if investors redeem or switch out their units within three months from the date of allotment. Redemptions or switches made after this three-month period will not incur any exit load.

Understanding Pharma and Healthcare Sectoral Funds

Pharma and healthcare sectoral funds are equity mutual funds that primarily invest in companies within the pharmaceutical and broader healthcare ecosystem. This includes drug manufacturers, biotechnology firms, hospitals, diagnostic companies, and medical device makers.

Due to their concentrated exposure to a single sector, these funds inherently carry higher sector-specific risks compared to diversified equity funds. Their performance can be significantly influenced by factors such as regulatory changes, drug approvals, pricing policies, global demand, and the overall valuations of healthcare companies. Investors should carefully consider these risks and long-term consistency rather than focusing solely on short-term returns when evaluating such specialized funds.
