Quick commerce platform Instamart has appointed Nandita Sinha, former Myntra CEO, as its new chief executive officer, effective August 3. She will lead the company's next phase of growth, focusing on profitability and customer experience amidst intense market competition.

Instamart, the quick commerce arm of Swiggy, announced on Tuesday the appointment of Nandita Sinha, formerly the chief executive officer of fashion e-commerce giant Myntra, as its new CEO. Sinha is set to assume her new role on August 3, taking over from Amitesh Jha, who guided Instamart through a significant expansion period.

Sinha's Vision for Instamart's Growth

With over two decades of experience as a consumer internet executive, Nandita Sinha brings a wealth of expertise from leadership positions at prominent companies including Flipkart, Britannia, and Hindustan Unilever. Her tenure at Myntra saw the platform achieve EBITDA profitability in 2024 and solidify its position as India's largest player in the fashion e-commerce segment.

As the new CEO, Sinha will be tasked with steering Instamart through its next phase of growth. Her strategic priorities include enhancing the platform's assortment strategy, improving overall profitability, strengthening its customer-centric approach, and driving operational excellence.

Leadership Transition Amidst Intense Competition

The leadership change at Instamart comes at a crucial time for India's quick commerce sector, which is experiencing heightened competition. Companies in this space are aggressively expanding their product offerings, striving for greater profitability, and scaling their operational capabilities to capture market share.

Sriharsha Majety, Managing Director and Group CEO of Swiggy, expressed his enthusiasm for Sinha's appointment. "Nandita is one of India's most accomplished consumer internet leaders," Majety stated, highlighting his anticipation for the vision, customer obsession, and operational rigor she will bring to the Instamart team.

Majety also extended his gratitude to outgoing CEO Amitesh Jha for his instrumental contributions, noting his leadership in scaling Instamart, launching key differentiators like 'Noice,' and steadily improving the platform's contribution margin.

Instamart's Market Position

Launched in August 2020, Instamart has rapidly grown to operate in more than 131 cities across India. The platform specializes in delivering groceries and other daily essentials, positioning itself at the forefront of how Indian consumers meet their everyday needs.

Commenting on her new role, Sinha remarked, "Instamart sits at the heart of how India shops for its everyday needs, and I look forward to working with our colleagues, partners and consumers to shape its next chapter of growth."

Her appointment signals Instamart's commitment to reinforcing its market leadership and navigating the dynamic landscape of India's quick commerce industry with seasoned leadership.
