IndiGo has advised passengers traveling from Delhi to check their flight status before heading to the airport today, July 8, 2026. Heavy rainfall and challenging weather across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) have significantly impacted flight operations, leading to disruptions and delays.

IndiGo Monitors Weather, Urges Passenger Checks

The airline communicated via social media that "Bad weather over Delhi has impacted flight schedules." IndiGo assured travelers that it is closely monitoring the situation to minimize inconvenience and that its teams are available to provide assistance. Passengers are strongly encouraged to use the airline's website or mobile app for the most current information regarding their flights.

Heavy Rains Lash Delhi-NCR, IMD Issues Red Alert

The travel advisory comes after widespread rain lashed various parts of Delhi-NCR, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. This spell of rain brought much-needed relief from the hot and humid conditions that had prevailed in recent days, with cloudy skies, gusty winds, and intermittent showers reported across the region.

Initially, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast light to moderate rainfall. However, as weather conditions intensified, the IMD upgraded its warning, issuing a red alert for Delhi. The department predicts fairly widespread rainfall across Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh between July 7 and July 9. Several districts in Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh are also expected to experience rain.

Monsoon Activity Brings Relief Amidst Forecasts

The current showers signify a return to more typical monsoon patterns, following days where temperatures reached approximately 38 degrees Celsius. While prolonged heavy downpours are not anticipated, light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, is expected to continue, offering a respite from the intense summer heat.

The southwest monsoon arrived in Delhi on July 2, five days later than its usual onset date of June 27. Despite the ongoing monsoon activity, the IMD has forecasted below-normal rainfall across India for July, following one of the driest June months in recent years. Conditions remain favorable for the monsoon's further advance across the country in the coming days.
