India's electric vehicle (EV) market demonstrated robust expansion in October 2026, with significant year-on-year increases across both two-wheeler and passenger vehicle segments. Data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) indicates a strong consumer shift towards electric mobility.
Electric Two-Wheeler Segment Sees Major Boost
In October 2026, electric two-wheeler retail sales climbed by an impressive 48.49% compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 224,064 units. This surge highlights the growing adoption of electric scooters and motorcycles across the country.
Key Players in E2W Market
- TVS Motor Company emerged as the market leader, selling 60,490 units. This represents a substantial 94.66% increase over October 2025 figures.
- Bajaj Auto followed with 49,126 units, marking a 51.33% year-on-year growth.
- Ather Energy recorded 31,833 units, showing a 5.25% increase.
- Hero MotoCorp also performed strongly, with sales rising 81.36% to 29,923 units.
- Despite the overall growth, Ola Electric experienced a decline, with registrations falling 26.41% to 12,098 units.
- Other notable contributors include Greaves Electric Mobility (10,839 units) and River Mobility (6,817 units), which saw a remarkable 273.94% growth.
While overall electric two-wheeler sales saw an 8.08% month-on-month increase from September 2026, their share in the total two-wheeler market slightly decreased to 9.7% from 11.6% in September. However, this share is significantly higher than the 4.7% recorded in October 2025.
Electric Passenger Vehicle Registrations Soar
The electric passenger vehicle segment also witnessed substantial growth, with registrations soaring by 76.47% year-on-year to 37,049 units in October 2026.

- Tata Passenger Electric Mobility maintained its dominant position, registering 14,669 units, a 77.61% increase from the previous year.
- Mahindra & Mahindra secured the second spot with 8,538 units, achieving an 85.65% growth.

Electric passenger vehicle sales increased by 2.61% month-on-month. However, EV penetration in the broader passenger vehicle market moderated slightly to 7.3% in October from 8.5% in September, although it remains considerably higher than the 3.5% seen in October 2025.
“The robust growth in India’s EV market underscores a clear trend towards sustainable transportation. Both two-wheeler and passenger vehicle segments are expanding rapidly, driven by consumer demand and strategic offerings from leading manufacturers,” noted a FADA research analyst.
The FADA data, collated on November 4, 2026, covers reports from 1,468 out of the country’s 1,469 Regional Transport Offices (RTOs), providing a comprehensive overview of the market's performance.
