· · 2 min read

Indian banks will observe several state-specific holidays in June 2026, alongside scheduled weekend closures. Customers should review the Reserve Bank of India's calendar before visiting branches, though digital services will remain fully operational.

Indian banks nationwide will observe several state-specific holidays throughout June 2026, in addition to the regular second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays. Customers planning in-person branch visits are advised to consult the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) holiday calendar to avoid inconvenience.

While physical branches will be closed on these designated dates, essential digital banking services such as UPI, internet banking, and mobile banking applications will continue to operate without interruption, ensuring customers can manage their finances remotely.

  • June 26: Muharram will lead to bank closures across numerous cities, including Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, and Srinagar.
  • June 29: Banks in Shimla will remain shut for Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti.

  • Sundays: June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28
  • Second Saturday: June 13
  • Fourth Saturday: June 27

Digital Banking Services Remain Accessible

Despite branch closures, customers can rely on a full suite of digital banking options. Fund transfers, bill payments, and other transactions can be processed seamlessly through online platforms. Banks typically provide prior notification for any scheduled maintenance that might temporarily affect these services.

Customers are encouraged to plan their banking activities in advance, especially for transactions requiring branch assistance, by checking the precise holiday schedule for their respective regions.
