Bengaluru, India – August 29, 2026 – Electric scooter manufacturer Ather Energy today unveiled its latest offering, the Konarc e-scooter, at the fourth edition of Ather Community Day. Priced from Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), the Konarc is designed to penetrate a crucial segment of the Indian electric two-wheeler market that Ather previously hadn't addressed.
Filling a Critical Market Gap
According to Tarun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, the Konarc directly targets the 45-55% of the e-scooter market falling within the Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.2 lakh price range. Mehta explained, “With Ather 450 and family scooter Rizta, we had a product for most customers but we didn’t have all the price points. Rizta’s cheapest variant is at Rs 1.30 lakh. And there were customers for whom we could build a more suitable product, which is how Konarc was born.”
Konarc's Features and Variants
Built on Ather’s new EL platform, the Konarc will be available across S and Z product lines, offering a total of six variants. The S line includes four variants with IDC ranges of 100 km, 125 km, 161 km, and 200 km, while the Z line comprises two variants with IDC ranges of 125 km and 161 km.
New features introduced with the Konarc include:
- MagicKey: A keyless start functionality.
- AutoPop: Hands-free access to under-seat storage.
For enhanced stability, particularly on India's challenging roads, the Konarc features a 14-inch front alloy wheel paired with a 12-inch rear alloy wheel. The larger front wheel is specifically designed to improve handling over potholes, as noted by Mehta.
Extended Warranty and Production Plans
Ather Energy has significantly extended the battery warranty for the Konarc to 10 years or 1,00,000 km, whichever comes first. This warranty guarantees a minimum 70% state of health for the battery at the end of the coverage period, underscoring Ather's confidence in its battery technology.
Initial bookings and deliveries for the Konarc S 125 km and Konarc S 161 km variants will commence in mid-September in a phased manner, expanding to more locations nationwide over time. Production will initially take place at Ather's rented facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. By November 2026, the first set of Konarc e-scooters is planned to roll out from the company's new manufacturing plant in AURIC (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Maharashtra, which boasts a half-million unit capacity for e-scooters.
Ather Energy co-founder and CTO Swapnil Jain affirmed that despite its affordable price point, the new Konarc electric scooter will not dilute the brand’s premium positioning.
