· · 2 min read

The third annual Pink Power Run in Hyderabad on September 27 expects 20,000 participants competing for a ₹75 lakh prize pool. Organized by Sudha Reddy and MEIL Foundations, it includes an AIMS-certified half marathon and supports breast cancer screening.

Hyderabad is gearing up to host the third edition of the Pink Power Run on September 27, an event expected to draw over 20,000 runners. This year's run features a substantial prize pool of ₹75 lakh, distributed among more than 100 winners across various race categories, while also serving as a vital fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and screening.

AIMS-Certified Half Marathon Debuts

For the first time, the Pink Power Run will include an official 21.097-km half marathon, certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). This new addition aims to attract professional athletes and serious fitness enthusiasts alongside the existing 10-km, 5-km, and 3-km races.

The event, organized by the Sudha Reddy Foundation and the MEIL Foundation, will take place at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road. Sudha Reddy, founder of the Sudha Reddy Foundation and Director at MEIL, stated that the initiative promotes fitness, preventive healthcare, and early action on health issues, with a strong focus on creating greater awareness about breast cancer.

'Miles for Mammograms' Supports Early Detection

Beyond the race, the Foundations are partnering with AIG Hospitals for the 'Miles for Mammograms' initiative. Under this program, the collective distance covered by participants will be converted into medical support: for every 100 km completed, the Sudha Reddy Foundation will sponsor one free breast cancer screening and one free mammogram test for underprivileged patients.

Dr. Pragnya Chigurupati, a breast oncosurgeon, underscored the critical need for increased awareness and early detection of breast cancer, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where access to screening is often limited. Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata Chuangsri also highlighted the importance of such community initiatives in raising public awareness.

Global Reach and Corporate Support

This year introduces a global Virtual Run, allowing individuals worldwide to participate remotely without a registration fee. The Hyderabad event anticipates participation from corporates, schools, families, running clubs, and professional athletes.

Major corporate partners supporting the Pink Power Run 3.0 include HPCL, BPCL, IOCL, AIG, and Decathlon. Organizers also announced financial assistance for Ramabai Ranveer to support her daughters' education. The official Pink Power Run 3.0 jersey and medal have been unveiled, with registrations currently open through iFinish and District.
