Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today announced a substantial expansion of its product portfolio, unveiling 10 new and refreshed models for the Indian market. This strategic move includes the launch of India's first E85 flex-fuel compatible scooter, the ADV 160, alongside a new electric scooter and several internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles.
India's First Flex-Fuel Scooter: The ADV 160
A key highlight of HMSI's announcement is the ADV 160, positioned as India's inaugural scooter capable of running on E85 flex fuel. This innovative scooter is powered by a 160cc liquid-cooled engine, designed for efficiency and performance. It features an 8.1-litre fuel tank and offers a generous 27 litres of under-seat storage, catering to practical urban commuting and adventure needs.
Expanding Electric Mobility with the QC3
Further solidifying its presence in the electric vehicle segment, Honda introduced the QC3 electric scooter. This model boasts a 3 kWh battery, providing an IDC-certified range of 151 km on a single charge. Riders will benefit from 32 litres of under-seat storage and a modern 5-inch TFT display offering connected features. The QC3's battery can achieve an 80% charge in approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes, enhancing convenience for daily use.
Diverse New Lineup and Advanced Technology
The comprehensive portfolio comprises seven entirely new models and three refreshed motorcycles and scooters. Beyond the flex-fuel and electric offerings, HMSI is bringing a range of new ICE vehicles to market. These include the CB500 roadster, the Rebel 300 and Rebel 500 cruisers, and the XR300L and XR300 Rally adventure motorcycles. Additionally, existing models like the CB350, CB350RS, and CB350C will receive new color options.
Several models, including the Rebel 300 and Rebel 500 cruisers, will incorporate Honda's E-Clutch technology. This innovation automates clutch operation, promising a smoother and less fatiguing riding experience, especially in stop-and-go traffic conditions.
Commitment to Localisation and Manufacturing
HMSI emphasized that this expanded portfolio underscores its robust localisation strategy. All the unveiled products are developed and manufactured in India, reinforcing the nation's role as a vital manufacturing and export hub within Honda's global operations. While the models have been unveiled, specific launch timelines and pricing details will be announced closer to their respective market introductions.
