Hindustan Copper, HAL Shares Dip Nearly 5% on Earnings News and Ahead of Q4 Results

· · 2 min read

Hindustan Copper and Hindustan Aeronautics shares both saw nearly 5% drops today. HCL's decline precedes its Q4 earnings announcement, while HAL's fall follows a Q4 report showing increased profit and revenue but a dip in EBITDA.

Shares of state-owned Hindustan Copper (HCL) and defence major Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) experienced significant declines of almost 5% in trading today. The market reaction stems from a combination of upcoming financial announcements and recently reported quarterly results for the respective companies.

Hindustan Copper Shares Fall Ahead of Q4 Results

Hindustan Copper shares fell by 5.42% to Rs 573.65, down from their previous close of Rs 606.55 on the BSE. This pre-emptive slip comes as the company's board is scheduled to meet today to consider and approve its financial results for the quarter and fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. Beyond earnings, the board is also expected to discuss a recommendation for a final dividend payment for FY2025-26 and potential fund-raising. Regulatory filings indicate a proposal to seek shareholder approval for raising funds through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) of up to 9,69,76,680 equity shares.

Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) Sees Dip Despite Profit Growth

Meanwhile, Hindustan Aeronautics shares slipped 4.96% to Rs 4381.50 against a previous close of Rs 4610.50. This decline follows the company's Q4 earnings report on May 14. While HAL reported a 5.5% rise in net profit to Rs 4,196 crore from Rs 3,977 crore in the year-ago period, and revenue from operations increased by 2% to Rs 13,942 crore, the market appears to have reacted negatively to another key metric. The company's Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA) saw a 4% decline, falling to Rs 5,058 crore from Rs 5,294 crore in the corresponding period last year. This dip in operational profitability likely outweighed the positive growth in net profit and revenue for investors.
